We returned from our trip to Corpus Christi, TX Saturday morning. We went down there to spend Thanksgiving week with my parents and had a nice time. Getting there and getting back was something else though; LOL on the way up there a deer came within inches of hitting us on the highway (speed limit 70 and that's what we were doing). My husband Scott was driving luckily and he just immediately swerved to the right into the next lane. Scott could have put his arm out and easily touched the deer that's how close it was. Then after that a fox ran in front of us but that wasn't as heart-wrenching as the deer experience. After the fox tale (hehehe get it tail?) some guy hauling another vehicle or part of one decided he was just going to make his way into the next lane WITHOUT EVEN looking as to where or who he was around. So he scooted his truck over to us while we were being tail-gated, Scott had to change lanes rather quickly and put the “peddle to the medal” so to speak and that was kinda heart-wrenching. Then on the way back it took us until 8 AM Saturday to get home and we left my parents around 1 PM Friday. First off we were going through a small town and we ran into a gas station where gas was $2.76 and boy let me tell you we jumped at that deal seeing as the previous town had been in the $2.90’s or more and we needed gas anyways, that took about 10 minutes. Well after filling up there were two more gas stations that were similar in price but AFTER that town it went back up in the $2.90’s; so we were on our way and about 5 minutes later we ran into an accident and the best we can figure that accident had happened about 15 minutes prior to us getting there. If we hadn’t seen that cheap gas we would have never stopped because we really didn’t need gas at the point we had about a half tank. THAT accident could have involved us and believe me it was a bad, bad accident. My husband and I immediately knew why we found gas so cheap and that was only by the hand of God for sure! He had protected us from that accident and we were both so grateful and thanked him for his protection. So a few hours later I was driving and I took a wrong turn in Texarkana and had to turn back around and take the right turn. A few hours later Scott took up the driving once again and missed our turn somewhere along the way and we went two hrs. out of our way because (get this, this is soooo funny - hehehehehehe) we were too busy talking to one another and had been for the past two hrs. and not only did we miss our turn somewhere along the way but we were nearly out of gas!!!! lmbooooooooooooo It's a good thing we had a couple of jugs along the way!! All in all though we had a good trip. My parents are showing their age gracefully more so than two years ago, my brother won't get a doctor's check-up, my Grandma is doing okay for her situation, my Aunt Sue is really taking real good care of her and says she stills eats really, really well and sometimes has to actually quit feeding her because my Grandma wouldn't stop eating; that's really good to hear. We stopped by a church Cemetery to visit my son's grave and I put some flowers in his vase as I do every time we are able to go to Texas and that was pretty heart-wrenching in itself but much more so than the deer thing and such as that. I told my son (Michael) that I was trying to be the best person I could be so I could see him again someday. Again it was a good trip all in all for sure!!!!!!! God Bless you all! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving too!
